The installation method of rock wool board mainly includes the following steps:

  1. Base treatment
Ensure that the installation surface (such as wall or roof) is clean, flat, dry and dust-free, without oil stains and loose parts, remove the weathered parts, and ensure that the base meets the construction requirements.
  2. Measurement and line drawing
According to the building facade design and insulation technical requirements, horizontal and vertical control lines, expansion joints, decorative seams, etc. are drawn on the wall or roof.
Hang vertical reference lines at the big corners of the building’s exterior wall and other necessary places, and hang horizontal lines on each floor to control the verticality and flatness of the rock wool board.
  3. Rock wool board interface treatment and glue application
Apply a layer of special adhesive on the outer surface of the rock wool board (if the side needs to be bonded with subsequent materials), smooth it with a scraper, and embed the glue into the rock wool board fibers.
Apply adhesive on the back of the rock wool board (i.e. the adhesive surface), and the glue application method can be the point frame method, strip bonding method, or strip point method to ensure that the bonding area is not less than 60%.
  4. Paste the rock wool board
Paste the glued rock wool board quickly to the wall or roof, and flatten it with a 2-meter ruler to ensure the flatness of the board surface and firm bonding.
The boards should be squeezed tightly and there should be no gaps. For the gaps formed by the uneven cutting, fill them with rock wool strips and smooth them.
  5. Install anchors
After the rock wool board is pasted, install anchors to enhance the fixation. The anchors should penetrate deep into the wall or roof, and the effective anchoring depth should not be less than the specified value (such as 30mm).
The installation position and number of anchors should meet the design requirements. Anchors are usually set at the center of each insulation board and at the T-shaped joint.
  6. Lay mesh cloth and apply anti-crack mortar
Lay glass fiber mesh cloth on the rock wool board to enhance the anti-crack performance of the insulation layer.
Apply anti-crack mortar on the mesh cloth and construct it in two layers. When the first layer of surface mortar is slightly dry and hard enough to touch, lay and apply the second layer of mesh cloth. Ensure the flatness and crack resistance of the insulation layer.
    VII. Acceptance of insulation layer
After the construction is completed, the insulation layer shall be inspected. Check the appearance quality of the rock wool board, whether the fixings are firmly installed, and whether they meet the requirements of the specifications.
    VIII. Treatment of special parts
For special parts such as door and window openings and deformation joints, the mesh cloth should be reversed, and the width of the reversed cloth should be ensured to meet the requirements.
In the parts above the water slope that are not less than the specified value (such as 150mm), the bracket shall be installed and fixed to the base wall with expansion bolts.
    Precautions
During the construction process, safety regulations shall be strictly observed to ensure the quality of construction.
Select rock wool boards of standard size, and the specifications and appearance size deviations shall be within the specified range.
When applying the adhesive, ensure that the mortar is even and without omissions.
Before installing the anchor, ensure that the adhesive has been fully cured.
When laying the mesh cloth, ensure that the mesh cloth is flat, wrinkle-free, and well bonded to the rock wool board.
The above steps and methods are applicable to the installation of rock wool panels for exterior walls and roofs. In actual construction, appropriate adjustments should be made according to specific conditions and design requirements.
